Sallie and Charlie’s wedding was a perfect representation of these two and the love that surrounds them! This adorable couple was married at Rose Hill Plantation last September. Sadly our fickle North Carolina weather decided to send rain on their wedding day (that’s good luck, right?) but that didn’t stop Sallie, Charlie, and their friends and family from having a fabulous time.
The ceremony was originally going to be held in front of the Manor House, but due to the rain we had to move it inside. It might not have been the preferred spot, but it definitely made the ceremony more intimate and created one of our favorite moments. We’ve been wedding planning for several years now and there is not much we haven’t seen. At every ceremony it’s truly an honor to be the last one with the bride before she walks down the aisle. We are usually standing at the back of aisle adjusting the veil, fluffing the train, or making last minute jokes to help hold back the tears. Sallie’s few moments before the ceremony began were slightly different. Her amazingly talented music group from her church in Virginia came down to sing all their ceremony songs. For their entrance, Sallie chose one of her favorites “Great I Am.” If you’ve never heard this song, it’s one that builds in suspense. After each of Sallie’s beautiful bridesmaids walked down the aisle to stand in place, we closed the ballroom doors and waited for one of the most dramatic bridal processionals we’ve ever witnessed. At the most powerful part of the song, we swung open the doors and everyone’s jaws dropped in awe at how beautiful Sallie looked. It was definitely one of those moments when you are reminded of why you love what you do!
The rest of the night was filled with delicious food from Rose Hill and dancing to great music from Men of Distinction! Unfortunately, the night had to come to an end, but Sallie and Charlie made sure to leave in style! Sallie’s mom surprised Charlie with an old school firetruck at the ceremony rehearsal. Since Charlie’s a firefighter he was speechless when he heard the sirens blaring down the drive and saw the truck! That firetruck was (of course) the perfect exit vehicle!
A huge thank you to Krystal Kast Photography and Oak City Films for capturing the special moments of their day!
