Kathryn and Ryan were married this past October in their hometown of Clinton, North Carolina and this was a very special wedding for everyone involved. Kathryn and Ryan decided they wanted to host their ceremony at her Granny Parker’s house. The house is filled with a million memories from family members growing up and celebrating in the house and on the land. Even before Kathryn and Ryan, the house was home to other family wedding ceremonies and receptions including her Granny Parker and John, her Great-Great Aunt Hilda , her Aunt Mary Jo, and even Kathryn’s parents! Although the house was the central location for wonderful family moments, it had not been lived in for the past few years. When Kathryn and Ryan decided they’d like to have their ceremony at the house, the family got together and cleaned and repaired everything to make it perfect for this wedding!
As if that wasn’t sentimental enough, Kathryn and Ryan asked Reverend Richard Vaughan to perform their ceremony. You could almost say Reverend Vaughan has been a life long family minister to this family. His very first assignment as a young pastor was to Kathryn’s Granny Parker’s church. In addition to Kathryn and Ryan’s wedding, Reverend Vaughan also performed the wedding ceremonies for her Aunt Mary Jo, both of her brothers, her cousins, and of course her parents!
The ceremony was held underneath the pecan trees on the family farm, which made for the perfect backdrop. English Garden made a beautiful arbor and we dressed it up even more by adding a chandelier hanging from the tree. After the ceremony was over, guests were invited to Coharie Country Club for dinner and dancing! At the reception we kept it simple and warm so guests would feel as though they had been invited into the couple’s home. Groupings of lounge furniture were provided by Simply Put Vintage and by the bride’s very talented and thrifty mother, and were placed outside! As guests arrived at the reception they were asked to find their favorite Bible verse and circle or highlight it and leave a message for the couple. We thought this was a sweet and unique idea instead of a traditional guest book. Guests enjoyed the delicious food, and danced to great music provided by Groovetown Band!
Kathryn and Ryan, and your families, thank you so much for allowing A Southern Soiree to be part of such a special day . Also, thank you so much for writing this wonderful review!
There is not a bad thing I could say about this crew. Gina was my wedding advisor, therapist, and, most of all, friend through this whole crazy, amazing process. She kept my mother and I sane and helped give me the most amazing day of my life! I would hire Gina and the rest of the A Souther Soiree crew again and again. They are helpful, knowledgable, friendly, and get you answers in a timely fashion. I can’t count the number of times Gina made me feel completely at ease about how the wedding day was going to go and then once the day got there I had no worries! Our wedding day was beyond perfect and I’m glad that Gina and the A Southern Soiree crew were there to make sure it went smoothly! Thank you so much!!
