Jaime and Zac are getting married this September at the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary. We cannot wait for their big day! They’re such a sweet couple, and with their help we’ve come up with some unique details and special touches for their wedding. Watch for some personal family florals, favorite wine bottle table numbers and Champagne escort cards…just to name a few!
Thanks to Big Star Studios for these images! We also asked Jaime and Zac a few questions about their engagement, and about the wedding planning process so far. Be sure to check out their answers below!
How did Zac propose?
Talk about a comedy of errors! It almost didn’t happen! By October 25th, the ring was burning a hole in Zac’s pocket, and he knew that if he didn’t propose soon, he was going to end up just throwing the ring at Jaime and saying, “Here! Take it!” So, that morning, he decided after he and Jaime left for work that he was going to circle back around to the house and place the ring under Jaime’s pillow. Well, that same morning, Jaime thought she forgot to close the garage door, so she also circled back to the house. When she got there, Zac was backing out of the driveway and almost ran right into her! In response to the question, “What are you doing here?” Zac responded that he had forgotten to put on his deodorant which Jaime believed without question since Zac had been such a scatterbrain the week leading up to the proposal (it had gotten so bad that one night he almost started a fire trying to boil water!).
Anyway, that night after work, Jaime decided she was going to fold some laundry, so she dumped a huge laundry basket of clothes on the bed- on the pillow- on top of the ring! The entire time Jaime was folding laundry, Zac was sitting on the bed watching Jaime intently as if he had never seen someone fold clothes before! Jaime thought he had lost his mind. Little did she know, he was scared to death that she was going to find the ring, or worse, lose it!
Long story short, that night before bed, Jaime moved her pillow and saw the ring box. “What is that?” she kept asking Zac. “Open it,” he said. “No, you open it!” After a few more rounds of the same ridiculous back and forth, Zac took the ring box from under the pillow, got down on one knee, and asked Jaime to marry him. The rest is history…
So far, what aspect of planning the wedding has been the most enjoyable?
Zac and I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire planning process, but if we had to pick one thing it would have to be the tastings. Yum!
Do you have any advice for recently engaged brides to help them stay stress-free throughout the planning process?
A Southern Soiree!! The best advice I can give a bride-to-be is to hire a wedding planner as soon as possible. Even the most Type A organized bride will benefit greatly from the knowledge and expertise of a wedding planner. I can’t say enough good things about Gina and A Southern Soiree!
What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?
Zac and I are most excited about having all of our friends and family together in one place to help us celebrate the beginning of our new lives together.
What are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?
Elegant, Joyful and Fun!
What made you decide to hire a planner?
Zac and I had a vision for what we wanted our wedding to be. We just didn’t really know how to bring all of the details together to make that vision happen. After meeting with Gina, we knew that she would be able to help us make our vision a reality. We were also impressed with the vendor relationships that a wedding planner can bring to the table and the cost savings that can be realized from having a wedding planner on your side.
