Happy Spring 🙂
All of us at A Southern Soiree are thrilled that the weather has warmed up and the sun is brightly shining! We’ve been busy bees these past two months working hard on many exciting events and projects.
We were honored to be the host planner for this months National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) meeting. There were so many wonderful vendors that donated their time and services to make this months meeting fun, educational, and all around Southern. The
Merrimon-Wynne house made the perfect backdrop for the “Shine on, Carolina Moon” meeting: A Lesson in BBQ, Moonshine, and Whisky!
Guests were treated to upscale southern food stations by
Mitchell’s Catering and Events including a down home biscuit bar where guests built their own biscuits with baked ham, lemon-garlic roasted chicken, and homemade pimento cheese! Bluegrass music by
Old Habits filled the house while guests moved from room to room.
For our educational portion of the meeting, the experts from
Q-Shack led a hands-on BBQ sauce and rub demonstration where guests learned about the differences between Western and Eastern style BBQ while making their own BBQ sauce and rub to take home with them. We lined up two North Carolina distilleries who made the trip to Raleigh and taught us about whisky and moonshine. Tasting samples were provided from
Defiant Whisky – Blue Ridge Distilling Co. and
Broadslab Distillery Moonshine. The ladies from
English Garden outdid themselves (as usual) with colorful flowers and vases atop fabulous linens by
Party Reflections. For dessert we had a mini pie bar by
Piebird with delicious flavors including Pecan Tassies, Honey and Sea Salt, and Lemon Ice Box.

We always have a blast putting together styled shoots with our great vendors! This past month we had the pleasure of organizing a photo shoot with an amazing team. We worked with English Garden, Perry Vaile Photography, Calligraphy by Carrie, Classic Party Rentals, Ashley Cakes, Paper Buzz, and BHLDN to create a romantic wedding in the woodlands. We were inspired by a beautiful brightly colored painting and we ran with it! Luckily, we had an absolutely perfect day and our vision came together better than planned. We’ll share more images with you from the photographer soon, and you will see the full shoot in the next edition of Trendy Bride magazine! Make sure to be on the look out!

This month we also had the pleasure of being featured on Style Me Pretty to give our tips and advice for planning a stress-free wedding! The lovely ladies at SMP asked us questions about our style, our approach to planning, and some tips for brides on how to enjoy all parts of planning their big day! Make sure you check out the feature and hopefully gain some tips when planning your big day! You can view the article here!

Until next time!
