Pam and Wesley: Engagement

December 10, 2013

Pam and Wesley are getting married next June at beautiful St. Mary’s Chapel in downtown Raleigh, and will  continue celebrating at North Ridge Country Club.  We are SO excited about this wedding and can’t wait to see all of their fun and unique details come together!  Pam, Wesley and their family have been such a pleasure to work with and we are so happy to celebrate this special time with them!

They (and their dog Blue!) had a great time with Jamie and Ritchie of Jagg Photography in Raleigh for their engagement session!  They took amazing images and we are excited to share them with you!

They also answered a few questions for us about their upcoming wedding – you must check them out!

How did Wesley propose?
Well, it is actually a tiny bit embarrassing. It was my birthday and for months beforehand Wesley had been asking little questions and hinting that he got me “the best birthday present” and such. So naturally, being a girl, I built up the grand moment in my head – imagining that he would probably ask me when we were all out to dinner with my family. Well, my birthday arrived and so did dinner…and so did late that evening….and so did no ring. Wesley explained his lack of phenomenal present by saying…”I ordered it and it just hasn’t arrived yet”.  I was completely deflated. I went to my mother’s the next day and broke down with disappointment. My special way of cheering myself up is a comfy pair of flannel pajamas and a big ol’ slice of tiramisu.  As I devoured the cake on my couch, Wesley walked into our living room with a big box. I remember thinking to myself, mouth full of cake, if it is a sweater I will probably cry. As I began opening the box, as smaller box was revealed and Wesley slipped down on one knee and before he could even ask the ring was on my finger and my eyes were full of tears. Wesley had no clue what emotional tornado I had put myself through all day.

So far, what aspect of the planning has been the most enjoyable?
As a girl, I love planning the décor and extra details. From the linens to the font on the invitations – I have loved it all.

Do you have any advice for recently engaged brides to help them stay stress-free throughout the planning process?
Take plenty of time to enjoy being engaged and all those fun and exciting feelings that come with it. Don’t hesitate to get a wedding planner – they will save your life and your sanity. Also, let the venue find you – don’t worry if the first few places don’t work out because you will eventually stumble onto the perfect one – another reason to take plenty of time to be engaged.

What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?
Seeing Wesley in his tux and being able to share this with our family and friends.

What are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?
Classic, elegant, and FUN!

What made you decide to hire a planner?
I am a fairly organized woman, but when it came down to planning my wedding I wanted to experience everything with none of the stress. Kailey lets me do that. I am able to experience everything and be a part of every decision without having to feel the stress and the pressure.  Kailey is my planner, my stop watch, my psychiatrist, my mediator, and my go-to for all things wedding. She also has become a good friend – so what started out as me needing someone to muffle the stress has turned into a new and wonderful friend. Thanks Kailey for everything!

Thank you, Pam and Wesley!!
