Courtney and Baker

Courtney and Baker were married this past October in the art district of downtown Raleigh. Their ceremony was held at Visual Art Exchange and their reception followed down the street at Flander’s Art Gallery. We started working with Courtney and Baker in September a year ago. We were really excited to get started when they told us they loved lots of color and they wanted tons of unique personal details! We hit the ground running searching for the perfect venue, securing our team of amazing vendors, and planning a night full of fun.

One thing we learned quickly from being around Courtney and Baker is that they LOVE their beer! Having a true appreciation for good beer ourselves, we knew we had to incorporate this beer lovefest into the evening. They decided to provide pint glasses that guests could personalize with their name and take home as a favor! In addition, we also had two kegs with specialty beers. Just in case the beer wasn’t enough, Courtney and Baker also had a special signature drink made with Firefly Vodka, Simply Lemonade, Rum, and best of all, Cheerwine! Let’s just say it was a huge hit!

Courtney and Baker did not want a traditional wedding cake; they had other plans in mind! We brainstormed on some ideas and thought about the different desserts they liked … donuts seemed to be the most popular! Who doesn’t love donuts??? We couldn’t just simply do a donut bar or even a tower of donuts, we had to do something way better than that. So what did we do, you ask? We had the Monuts Donuts staff spell out the word CAKE with 4 of their most delicious flavored donuts (Maple Bacon Bourbon, Apple Cider, Chocolate Frosted, and Pumpkin)! Mmmm!

Working with A Southern Soiree, namely Megan and Gina, was an absolute blast. They are supremely personable, professional, and knowledgeable about all things wedding-related in the area. I had a lot of random ideas that these ladies were so skilled in tailoring into a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception.

I feel like Megan and Gina know EVERYONE! You felt like a VIP whenever they were around because every vendor in the vicinity would bend over backwards for you. I felt like the knowledge of these ladies, as well as their relationships, helped us craft a well-organized, masterfully-staffed, and flawlessly executed event…not to mention an absolute BLAST!
