Rachel and Josh are getting married this May at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh. Since they both live in DC and are only going to be in town a few weekends between now and their wedding, we’ve packed those weekends full of meetings to finish their plans. It’s going to be a beautiful wedding, and I am really excited to see everything coming together! Rachel and Josh are such a sweet couple, and I am thrilled to be a part of their special day!

We asked Rachel some questions about her wedding below!
How did Josh propose?
Josh’s proposal took me completely by surprise. He kept all of the planning a complete secret! Last February he took me down to one of my favorite places in DC, the national botanical gardens. As we were walking around the gardens he led me into the orchid room, which is full of hundreds of varieties of exotic orchids. There he got down on one knee and proposed. It was such a special moment in such a gorgeous place.
So far, what aspect of planning the wedding has been the most enjoyable?
The food tastings and flowers! Josh and I are huge foodies so we loved the opportunity to taste so many delicious types of cakes and then pick out the food all of our guests will be able to enjoy. I also loved having the opportunity to pick our flowers. The flowers at the reception are such a large part of the decor, it was important to me that they make a statement that is memorable.
Do you have any advice for recently engaged brides to help them stay stress-free throughout the planning process?
Figure out what part of the wedding is most important to you and your vision of the wedding. Once you understand what you must have, then the key is compromise. Also try to enjoy the wedding planning process, you only get to do it once!
What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?
I am honestly so excited about everything for the wedding so it’s hard to just pick one, but probably the most important aspect to me is celebrating this special day with our family and friends. Also, I cannot wait to see the results of all of the planning we have done over the past year. Personally I am excited for Josh to see me in my dress, he has no idea what my wedding dress looks like and I cannot wait for the reveal.

Elegant, romantic, joyful (fun)
What made you decide to hire a planner?
Josh and I both work long hours and I am in school at night to earn my MBA. With us living in DC and the wedding being in Raleigh we decided that a wedding planner would be the best way to simplify the process and for us to enjoy the wedding planning process. It has been such a huge help to have someone to navigate us through the planning process.
