Have you been asked to be either a bridesmaid or groomsman in an upcoming wedding? Being asked to be  part of a bridal party is a huge honor!  You have been chosen as either a bridesmaid or groomsman to stand at the alter to witness your close family member or friend say, “I do!”  I’m sure that with the honor of being asked to be a part of the couple’s special day, you have some questions regarding what your responsibilities entail.

You may wonder if you can afford the expenses that come with being a bridal party attendant.  Or you question if you are the one in charge of throwing showers.  And what about the bachelor or bachelorette weekend?  Your wheels are spinning! If you want to make sure you do a great job then we have those answers for you!

 

Main Responsibilities for Bridal Attendants (both bridesmaids and groomsmen):

• Paying for your wedding attire and accessories
• Communication with the bride or groom throughout the entire planning process, so that you know final decisions that are being made
• Paying for travel expenses, but the couple should provide the accommodations
• Attendance at all pre-wedding events (showers, bachelor and bachelorette weekends, etc.) when possible
• Promptness.  Don’t be late! Arrive on time to wedding weekend events (ceremony rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, the Wedding!)
• Make sure to give a gift to the bride and groom

      

Matron of Honor Responsibilities include:

• Assisting the bride in choosing bridesmaids attire
• Selecting a gift for the bridesmaids to give to the bride
• Witnessing the signing of the marriage license
• Assisting the bride at all times when needed the weekend of the wedding
• If possible, hosting a shower, luncheon, bachelorette weekend, etc. or make sure that each of these events are scheduled

      

Bridesmaid Responsibilities include:

• Assisting the bride at all times when needed the weekend of the wedding
• Contributing to the bride’s gift
• If possible, hosting a shower, luncheon, bachelorette weekend, etc.

      

Best Man Responsibilities include:

• Hosting the bachelor party weekend if the groomsmen plan to have one
• Selecting a gift for the groomsmen to give the groom
• Assisting the groom in choosing the groomsmen attire
• Assisting the groom at all times when needed the weekend of the wedding
• Witnessing the signing of the marriage license

      

Groomsmen Responsibilities include:

• Assisting the groom at all times when needed the weekend of the wedding
• Attending the bachelor party if one is planned
• Contributing to the groom’s gift
