Britt & Kenneth’s Downtown Raleigh Wedding!

September 15, 2011

Britt and Kenneth were married on July 30th at the beautiful St. Mary’s Chapel and the reception was held in the ballroom of the former Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel. After meeting the couple back in January I knew that they were going to be a fun couple to work with! Britt and Kenneth had a very unique style and they wanted their style to show throughout their entire wedding. The reception venue was the perfect venue for them! Not only did the ballroom overlook downtown Raleigh (which was gorgeous once the sun went down), but it is also Raleigh’s oldest surviving hotel and is a National Historic Landmark.

They were both huge fans of bluegrass and were very lucky to have the awesome band Old Habits perform for their guests! Everyone danced the night away! My favorite moment of the night was when the band sang the rendition of the song, Wagon Wheel at the end of the night..the guests went crazy and begged for more!

Abigail Seymour captured amazing moments from their wedding! The expressions on everyone’s faces were priceless…especially Kenneth’s! Congratulations Britt and Kenneth!

Thank you to Britt’s dad, Ken Hayes, for the review he filled out on WeddingWire about his experience working with A Southern Soiree:

“We hired A Southern Soiree in January, 2011 for a July 30th wedding. We selected the premier plan which basically meant they were with us every step of the way, on every decision being made. We (bride’s family) were not local to Raleigh so having somebody for my daughter to work with, run ideas by, etc was very key. For me, being able to pretty much show up in Raleigh for the weddding and not have to worry about ANYTHING the entire weekend (Rehearsal, Wedding, Wedding Reception, Clean Up The Day After) was Huge.

They were always willing to suggest based on their experience or just be a sounding board for ideas and offering opinions. AT the end of the day, all decisions were ours. They simply would provide us the information and expert advice on pros/cons. All contracts that had to be signed were reviewed in detail so that I did not need to do this.

Wedding weekend….they ran the rehearsal including handing out a very detailed timeline of how everything was going to happen at the wedding. We walked through it as a group, everybody was on the same page.

Finally they are extremely pleasant and personable, people you like to be around. You can’t go wrong hiring Megan, Kailey and the rest of their support team.”
