Sara and Mike were married in June at North Raleigh United Methodist Church and the reception was held at Cobblestone Hall. Sara’s mom, Karen, called me last August after booking Cobblestone Hall and told me that they were in need of a wedding planner to help them with with all details of the wedding from vendor recommendations to design and decor. Sara and Mike live in Boston and Sara is the oldest of three daughters (Karen has already told me I’ll be planning the other two daughters weddings as well!) so this was the Sherman family’s first time planning a wedding. I enjoyed every minute of working with this family and I loved that they trusted me to do my job. I also loved that Mike was a very involved groom and he attended almost all of our meetings when the couple came into town… what a good sport!
One of the things that I think is very important when it comes to recommending vendors to a bride and groom is to make sure the personality of the vendor and the vendor’s style clicks with the couple and their vision for the wedding. This was one of those weddings where all vendors were a perfect fit and that made the wedding day run so smoothly. Below are some awesome photographs from James and Meridith Walters of Walters and Walters:

Instead of placecards, the guests picked up their luggage tags and took them to the corresponding table.

Rocky Top Catering did an amazing job with the food (as always!). There were some late night BBQ sliders that were served after dinner and cake!
Thank you to Karen for the wonderful review she wrote about her experience working with A Southern Soiree on Google:
“Megan was amazing! We engaged her for our daughter’s wedding and had her assist us with everything. No challenge was too great. We had no “vision” at all, the bride and groom live in Boston and the church was unavailable after we had reserved it and booked our vendors. She only recommended the best vendors and made appointments with them on the few weekends when the bride could come to Raleigh. She handled every detail for us and as a result the wedding day was perfect! We didn’t have to worry about a thing. If situations arose, we were totally unaware of them because she handled them. Looking back, I have no idea how I would have planned a wedding and worked at the same time if it had not been for Megan. If I could give her services 100 stars, I would do so!”
We wish Sara and Mike a lifetime of happiness and we look forward to a continued friendship with the Sherman family for years to come! Thanks to the following vendors for a job well done:
