Technology and Proposals

July 29, 2010

I saw an article yesterday on CNN.com wondering “Is chivalry dead?“.  You can read it by following the link (if of course you promise to come back to my site :)).  So they go into how guys today are choosing to use the internet or some form of technology to propose to their girlfriends.  Basically the article doesn’t really say that it’s a good or a bad thing, but guys aren’t going the traditional route when proposing.  In fact, one guy asked the Old Spice guy to propose to his girlfriend for him.

Personally, I think the idea of doing something out the ordinary is great…however, IM and email are completely out of the question!   Gentlemen, you need to be somewhat creative when proposing because you want it to be something special and unforgettable.  I know the girl who got this Old Spice proposal will never forget it!

But that doesn’t mean that the proposal absolutely has to be technology based.  One of my favorite proposal stories is when my friends Leanne and Dustin got engaged.  They were on a wine-cellar tour at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville when Dustin held Leanne back from the rest of the group, and in a little crevice of a room there was a table set up and a personalized bottle of champagne with “Leanne, Will You Marry Me?” written on there.  Dustin pulled the ring out from his pocket, and of course she said yes!  No technology, but still awesome and memorable!
